[Welcome to the game! You may only post in this thread if you have received a role PM.] The world is changing. Personally, if you ask me, we've sucked it dry. That's what's causing all of this. If we don't act now, then when? Everything is just getting worse. Though, I've got a plan... ........... The world's a mess. Yesterday on the side of the street I saw a man keel over and vomit blood during my walk. The following day I saw two men do the same. It's that damned fog. I'm going to fix everything. I have to. ........... The night was no different from any other. Dense fog filled the streets. Those not fortunate enough to have shelter felt their skin crawl. Haunting the streets like a ghost, a bright crimson light shines through the fog. Each step forward the figure took would be a step forward towards a better and brighter future. As the fog would lift the following morning, so too, would everyone learn, that the fog on their hearts would lift as well. Whoever survived this faithful night would greet a much better, brighter future. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [#spoiler=Cast of Characters] Malkuth: WinterCoat as CharlotteYesod: DootDoot as YesodHod: Joker as Satoshi HondaNetzach: SouthernCorn (Rosa) as Wolfram KantorTiphereth: Blinky as Ari Geburah: Matt as HakimChesed: Bad Player as Fen LingDa'at: Planetbox as VBinah: Dr. Nanjo M.D. as Elisha DesrochesChokmah: Panda as ArgusKeter: Kachu as Keter
[#spoiler=Character Sprites] Credit to Panda for Argus, and Nanjo for Elisha.
[#spoiler=Helpful Links] OOC Chat
[#spoiler=Table of Contents] Intro PhaseKeter TrainKeter Q&ARoot TimelineGeburah Trial - ManhuntRoot Timeline B - Binah TrialLong, Lonely Night - ENDEarth TimelineChesed Trial - CaretakerEarth Timeline BSewer TunnelNetzach Trial - RevitalizeApathetic Empathy - ENDRoot Timeline A - Geburah Trial ContinuedEarth Timeline A - Chesed Trial Continued Hod Trial - Save herAshes of a Ghost Page - ENDRoot Timeline A - Geburah Trial Continued AGAINChokmah Trial - Escape
Slowly, the old gears of the Ferris wheel would creak, stopping briefly as each carriage reached the earth. One by one, you found yourself stepping outside of your carriage and out into the dark park. As you stepped onto the earth, the carriage you sat in would lift back up into the air, being replaced by the next one after. It wouldn't be long until each carriage made a stop. Each face stepping down on the stable earth was an unfamiliar one. The area around you is lit, though barely, from a faint bulb and the bright moon in the sky. What was going on? Why were you here? What is there even to do? There's only one thing to do, you suppose... [Each of the ten players may make only three posts. Once all ten players have posted introducing themselves, however, this restriction will be lifted.]

"...the fuck?"
Standing in the crowd was a teenage girl, around high school age, staring at the ground, muttering to herself. Everything about her appearance - her short red hair, her black pants and boots, the choker around her neck, the scowl on her face - it all screamed "punk". The only thing seemingly out of place was the bright yellow parka she wore, her hands shoved deep in the pockets.
The girl looked up to see the strangers surrounding her, which only made her glare harden. "H-Hey! Where the fuck is this place? What the hell's going on?" Her voice sounded angry, but it wavered with uncertainty.

From one of the carriages stepped out a rather rough looking Japanese man. He had piercing green eyes, a large scar on his unshaven face, and despite the situation he had a somewhat infectious smile. There was a pair of wireless over the ear headphones around his neck as well. He wore a black t-shirt and a rather warm looking blue coat, as well as a pair of old jeans and black boots. At a glance he might seem that well off financially, but he didn't seem to be bothered by it.
"Yo." He said, as he raised up his left hand, and gave a friendly wave to the rest of the captives. On his left wrist was a bracelet with the word Hod printed on the display. "The name's Satoshi Honda, but you can guys can call me Sato if you want. I don't suppose any of you guys know why we're here, huh?"

"Get it off... get it off, GET IT OFF!" a raspy voice cried out. A pale-skinned girl, a bit tall and lanky with dark hair, was tugging and scratching at the bracelet on her wrist. Her clothes were loose-fitting and worn. She seemed to be wearing two different shoes, one with a more defined heel. She did not pay the others any mind. It was easy to see her bloodied, bandaged wrists as she tugged away at the bracelet. Her breathing was very choppy and fast.

A young woman emerged from another car, a slight spring in her step. She walked fearlessly ahead of the group, spinning on her heel to take in her surroundings. A slight smile crossed her face beneath her short black hair as she stared at the ferris wheel. "Location unknown. Unfamiliar foreign object on arm. Memories do not account for my arrival here." Her voice came out stilted. She seemed not to notice the others, instead casting a confused stare at the bracelet on her left arm. She tapped its surface with steel fingers, only to look up at the others with a flash of recognition. "Oh, excuse me!" she said, "I didn't mean to ignore you all! It's just this word on my wrist. Da'at, I think? I've got no idea what it means. Guess it's another language or something? Any ideas? Her voice flowed from her mouth like a waterfall, now full of emotion. "But whatever...It's nice to meet you, Sato...others. What might the rest of your names be? Oh...and, don't be intimidated by my appearance, alright? I'm sure we have more in common than you think." She was fit. Vaguely Eastern like Sato, though her exact nationality was hard to pin down. She wore a white button-up blouse above a pair of black exercise plants with accents the color of her eyes. One of her arms was wrapped in a compression sleeve, suggesting she just came from the gym. Her other was replaced completely with a jagged metal prosthethic, suggesting she'd spent time in an underground research lab. To top it off, a gauze bandage completely obscured one of her eyes from sight. The woman's metal arm occasionally emitted faint red light, making it even harder to ignore.

"Oh! I believe I..." said the occupant of the next carriage, stepping off. The voice was heavily filtered and distorted, which seemed to even give him pause as he uselessly cleared his throat before continuing. "... Um, I believe I know this, actually! Da'at means 'knowledge', but more relevantly it can be representative of a form of self awareness, the knowable form of Keter, or the mystical state where all sefirot are united as one."
His voice and spontaneous lecture weren't the only odd things about the man. His face was covered by a plain white mask with only two smiling eyes as defining features. Unbothered, he showed the bracelet on his wrist to everyone around. "We've all received a sefirot then, I believe? Mine is Yesod. 'Foundation'."
"... With that out of the way, this might seem like a strange question, but would anyone happen to know who I am?"

"Yo." He said, as he raised up his left hand, and gave a friendly wave to the rest of the captives. On his left wrist was a bracelet with the word Hod printed on the display. "The name's Satoshi Honda, but you can guys can call me Sato if you want. I don't suppose any of you guys know why we're here, huh?" In the dim light, a set of soft hands land on his shoulders, "Sweetie?! I don't believe it! I was really about to start fussing about this whole situation, but if you are here, then even if I was kidnapped and roughed all up there's a little something good to come of it! Ha! Ha!" A woman speaks in a glorious and bold voice, which sounds like it could easily bounce up and down four octaves. It's the voice of someone who is used to some sort of public speaking. In addition, the accent is notably American. As Satoshi is pulled to the side, the others get a clear look at the speaker, and they can't help but feel a little lucky to get an eye full. Some people notice her beautiful hair; tightly woven into a network of thick black ropes, meticulously dyed golden blonde at the ends, cascading down to the woman's shoulders. One can imagine the hours spent at a salon or at home crafting and caring for this hairstyle. Others notice the taunting smile at her lips, almost as if she's begging people to take pause with her strange entrance. Her eyes tell no further tales however, because large stylish sunglasses block any further peeks at the rest of her face. The woman could have no eyes and it would be impossible to tell. What can be seen though gives an impression of strong vitality. Still others notice that, while her the top of her black jumpsuit goes all the way up to a choker around her neck, parts of it are see through. Her sleeves, for example, are made of thin and very loose black material that shows off more of her flawless skin and her bracelet. But more noticeable perhaps, is a that the very top of the chest is transparent, showing off a staggering deep valley of chestnut-colored cleavage. She is certainly well above average in that area, and no matter who is looking, it causes just a bit of vertigo. "... With that out of the way, this might seem like a strange question, but would anyone happen to know who I am?" "Oh brother..." The woman sighs, shaking her head. "Are you sure you can't answer that for yourself? Has someone been indulging a bit too deeply? Why don't you take off that mask and I'll let you know what I think?" The girl looked up to see the strangers surrounding her, which only made her glare harden. "H-Hey! Where the fuck is this place? What the hell's going on?" Her voice sounded angry, but it wavered with uncertainty. "Good question. I'd be asking the same thing, but I don't think we'll be getting answers from anyone recently trapped on a ferris wheel." "Get it off... get it off, GET IT OFF!" "Careful Babe, unless you know something I don't, it ain't worth losing an arm to lose the bracelet."

A middle-aged man in a simple workman's outfit commented. "Something to do with... no, I don't quite remember. Ah well. As for your question though, well really, only you can answer that. Now's perhaps not the best time for introspection though." His eyes passed over the rest of the group. Oddly enough, the American woman's splendid appearance seemed to make just as much an impact on him as anyone else here did, and his gaze barely lingered on her. Instead he focused on the two panicking people. "...the fuck?" Standing in the crowd was a teenage girl, around high school age, staring at the ground, muttering to herself. Everything about her appearance - her short red hair, her black pants and boots, the choker around her neck, the scowl on her face - it all screamed "punk". It's clear we've been kidnapped for some nefarious purpose, but so long as I draw breath, I'll protect you all." He seemed gentle and a bit doddery, but a closer look revealed he was well-built for his age. "The lady over there is right, until we get a better idea of what's going on, we shouldn't do anything rash. These bracelets could serve all manner of purposes." He raised his arm as he said this, showing everyone his bracelet. It read "Chokmah".

A rough hand was placed on the girl's shoulder from behind, startling those who saw it. Behind her was a frighteningly tall man dressed in black with a purple clothe around him. The golden cross he wore made it clear he was some sort of priest, yet he looked anything but holy. His features were strong yet grave, and would have been intimidating in daylight alone. The lack of lighting only worsened this, as it brought attention to his left eye- and the red glow emitting from it. It looked anything but natural. He did not give off a very friendly energy, yet he didn't seem quite as panicked as the others. This relative lack of emotion only served to make him more disconcerting. " What is this?" The man asked as he eyed the bandages on her wrists. He spoke deeply, with a strong accent- German, perhaps?- and while he sounded concerned, he came off as just a bit cold as he did. " Who did this to you?" He scowled, giving an accusing glare at the other people in the theme park. Being given that look by him was enough to make one wince. [reference image]

The second last one out of the carriages was a man of clear African origins that could best be described as unassuming, wearing a simple white shirt, grey jacket, grey pants and brown dress shoes, all perfectly ironed and from respectable clothing companies: he looked like he'd just come home from his day job, really. He looked around with a sort of inquisitive, yet calm gaze, getting a good idea of the rest of the group's members before doing anything else. "What is this?" The man asked as he eyed the bandages on her wrists. He spoke deeply, with a strong accent- German, perhaps?- and while he sounded concerned, he came off as just a bit cold as he did. "Who did this to you?" He scowled, giving an accusing glare at the other people in the theme park. Being given that look by him was enough to make one wince. He quickly frowned at the extremely tall man's glare and spoke with a fairly usual British accent, "Easy there. I don't think there was enough time for it to have been one of us. We've all gotten off very recently, haven't we? We shouldn't try to mess things up too much, with how little we know about everything. Speaking of which --" The man raises his wrist right after saying that which also, expectedly, has a bracelet on it. "I'm very curious about these. Would anyone know what 'Geburah' means?" He finishes, looking particularly towards the masked man and turning the watch's display to face him. Of course, Geburah is what the bracelet reads on the display.

"No no, it's not introspection! I mean this literally, I can't seem to remember who I am. My memories start with waking up in that carriage with this mask stuck to my face..." he clarified. Even through the heavy voice filter, it was actually noticeable he spoke with an American accent. "Now you all say we've been kidnapped? I was hoping at least someone here would know me or what happened..."
"Oh! This one is much simpler than Da'at." he got distracted very easily for a man missing his entire identity. "Geburah means 'strength'. It stands for God's judgement and discipline."

I’m sure your memories will come in time, but for now we’d best figure out what we’ve gotten wrapped up in here.” “So, hmmm,” she mumbled, fiddling with her bracelet, “Knowledge, self-awareness, all sefirot aligned as one. That’s a lot to live up to, huh. I think whoever designed these things could have assigned them a bit better…”

You know an awful lot about these Jewish words, for instance. Do you remember your name? Age?" "I'll go over everything I remember about this kidnapping. You're an empty vessel, just waiting to be filled! Almost an enviable situation, really; at my age you start to get the opposite problem, where you're filled to bursting. I could certainly do with forgetting a few things..." He seemed to be exaggerating a little: the man was probably only around 50 years old. "Oh, sorry, rambling. The kidnapping, right. I was enjoying a break from work at home when a strange figure assaulted me. Had a funny red light on their head. They could handle themselves pretty well in a fight. I'm ashamed to say I lost, I took a nasty kick to the head and lost consciousness. The next thing I new, I was on that Ferris wheel with this bracelet clamped around my wrist."

Now that she was speaking more, her British accent became clearer. “Yeah, I’m sure you’re all completely trustworthy.” The girl folded her arms over her chest, rolling her eyes. As she pulled her hands out of her pockets, though, a bracelet similar to the others was visible on her wrist. On the display was a single word, just like all the others: Tiphereth"Yo." "Well, I'll admit, I feel relatively at ease. It might be a lack of frame of reference, since I don't really remember what I lost, be it my memories or my freedom!" he said. The look of the mask gave everything he said a cheery tone at best and a jeery one at worst. Either way made it hard not to feel laughed at. "Everything is gone. Age, name, home... Even all these words, all I have to say is that I remember them as naturally as I remember English. They're knowledge, not memories."
"But being an empty vessel... It's a romantic way to put it. I think I rather like it! Since I can't remember my name, why don't you all call me Yesod? I can use it as the foundation for this new identity."
He laughed at his own joke. Now it was impossible not to feel laughed at.

I'm a little curious as to your story, see you resemble someone I ran into recently," the woman makes no attempt to hide the intention of the questioning. "Have you maybe seen me around?" “Oh dear,” the woman with the metal arm said. “You’re much worse off than me, then…but try not to worry about it too much! I’m sure your memories will come in time, but for now we’d best figure out what we’ve gotten wrapped up in here.” "Just what in particular makes you say that? Are you also missing a couple memories?" The woman smiles self-assuredly, almost smug. "Or were you talking about the rest of you being worse off?

Except it's not. It's not fine... I'M OKAY!" " Fret not, Charlotte." The tall man spoke, trying to sound comforting. " I am also here. No harm will befall you under my watch." " Try not to pick at your bandages , either. They will simply worsen the pain." Turning to the other captives, he stepped forward, coldly glancing at them. While he didn't seem pleased by the punk girl's remark towards him, he decided to focus on other matters. " My name is Wolfram Kantor. I was walking back home from work during the fog when I encountered a figure with a red V on their head. They approached me at an alarming speed and presumably knocked me out. I then woke up in that carriage with nothing but a throbbing headache and... this." He showed his left wrist, which had a bracelet on it with the word " Netzach" printed on the display. " As for you, woman." He directed his attention towards the blonde. " I do not believe we have met. Other than Charlotte, the only person here I recognise is that Japanese friend of yours, and he was simply a regular at my church. That is all." He spoke simply but with an air of calculation, only going over the important points and nothing more. He didn't seem like the type of chap you could make small talk with, exactly.

Just this hulking metal arm and whatever’s under these bandages.” She reached up and brushed the bandage on her face, seeming hesitant to touch it. “I’ve felt on the cusp of remembering things for ages, but nothing ever budges. So I try not to think about it too much, but…that’s why I don’t have a full name to give you. Lately, I’ve just been going by V.” She raised both of her hands in the air and brought them together at a diagonal angle, slamming them down by her knees. The action formed the letter V in the air. “But that’s enough about me. What’s your name? Are you acquainted with that Sato fella?”

Well, besides the kidnapping, that is." “Sato?” The girl’s anger faded for a moment as she looked at the man. She sighed. “Well, at least there’s something familiar here...” She muttered. For a moment, it seemed as though she was somewhat at ease, but as the others began speaking and she turned away, scowl returning. "Ari? Is that you?" He asked, still smiling. "It's been a while since our last meeting. It's good to see you again. I just wish it were under better circumstances." He chuckled. " As for you, woman." He directed his attention towards the blonde. " I do not believe we have met. Sato didn't seem nearly as enthusiastic to see Wolfram as he was to see the two women, but he gave a small nod towards the priest. "Father Kantor."

Now it was impossible not to feel laughed at. "Yesod it is, then! Nice to meet you!" The man said, laughing along despite the unsettling nature of Yesod's laugh. "As for me, call me Argus. You hear that, everyone? Argus! Don't be shy now, I need something I can call all of you, your turn now." He nodded along with Wolfram's account of his kidnapping. "Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is a pattern. It sounds like the lady there - Elisha, is it? - had a similar encounter, so I can only assume it was the same for all of us."

"Ari? Is that you?" He asked, still smiling. "It's been a while since our last meeting. It's good to see you again. I just wish it were under better circumstances." He chuckled. “Yeah.” The girl - Ari - cracked a small smile at Sato’s words. “Not exactly the best place to meet again. How are things? Same as me? Because right now I’m feeling very kidnapped and angry.” "Your paranoia is justified. Just know that you have allies here. This man, Satoshi, for one. Stick with those you can trust, and you'll make it through this." He turned to address everyone else. "The same goes for all of you! The one thing that'll... Things will go bad if..." He seemed to be struggling for the words, until he finished lamely, "Look, just take it from me, you don't want to be alone. Things go well when you have someone you can rely on, and badly if you don't." Ari stared at Argus for a moment, before shrugging her shoulders. “Whatever, old man.” She dug her hands into her parka pockets again and walked closer to Sato’s side.

She reached up and brushed the bandage on her face, seeming hesitant to touch it. Are you acquainted with that Sato fella?” " V, you say?" Wolfram raised an eyebrow. The others waited for him to elaborate, but that was all he had to say. For a person of such stature, he sure was short with others. It was easy to infer what he was asking, though. Given that he apparently saw a figure with a V on their head before being kidnapped, and now this person calling herself V... Perhaps it was a stretch, but something he wanted to know about anyways.

“But that’s enough about me. What’s your name? Are you acquainted with that Sato fella?” "Holy shit." Sato replied, his smile growing even wider. "Elisha, is that really you? It's been so long! What are the chances we'd meet again here of all places? How are you and Sabrina doing? Well, besides the kidnapping, that is." "Of course! Where are my manners? For those unacquainted my name is Elisha Desroches," the woman, Elisha, bows deeply in acknowledgement to the others -- but not without tilting her head up with a subtle smirk, looking for any untoward glances. "Little Sato here is like a son to me," she adds, about the clearly taller man. "Anyways, I'll have to catch you up on Sabrina and my own stories sometime later. There are many details that we won't want to skip over. Not that it's all been good, of course! Ha! Ha!" She gives the man a sincere smile and tilts an eyebrow up, "You'll have to let me know all about what's been going on as well, okay Sweetie? Seems like you've met all sorts of new friends like Miss Ari here." "V, you say?" Wolfram raised an eyebrow. "Yes, she said that, Mr. Red Eyes. No need to parrot back everything for the rest of us unless you have a real question to ask or a real point to make," Elisha puts a hand on her hip, giving the others a better view of her bracelet and sefirot: Binah.

An Asian woman with silver glasses, brown hair, and a blue suit emerged from the final carriage. She looked to be in her late 20s or early 30s, and it was difficult to tell whether her slight dishevelment was due to their peculiar situation or not.
"Ari!" She cried out as she ran over to the red-haired girl. She immediately began inspecting Ari for any sort of injuries. This happened as soon as the group assembled, if it felt like it was after the conversation had already progressed somewhat it must have just been some sort of strange temporal illusion.

"Oh, so then we are both amnesiacs!" Yesod really seemed excited at this. "And going a year without your memories is... I mean, you could become an entirely different person in that time! I wonder if I will go for that long without recovering my memories..."

"Ari, you know... Mr. Honda?"

Until now, the unassuming man was content to simply watch from the side and take some mental notes. However, something took his attention. Chiefly, it seemed to be the conversation about the kidnappings. "As for me, call me Argus. You hear that, everyone? Argus! Don't be shy now, I need something I can call all of you, your turn now." "You're right," he commented, nodding in agreement. "You can call me Hakim. My kidnapping was similar to yours; I was just sitting in my car, and after a bright red flash, someone broke through my windshield and grabbed me. After that, I was out cold. I didn't see any 'V' or anything of the like, though that might be because of how it all happened." Just as he finished recounting his very important and completely abnormal kidnapping, he hummed to himself. "I wonder what the two without their memories have to do with this? No offense to either of you, of course, but everyone here seems to know at least someone else."
