“Sorry about that, my brain just runs a little fast sometimes, and I really like those sorts of puzzles,” V said. “Looks there’s plenty more to do here! See, I’ll sit back and let you take a stab at that keypad puzzle. I’m sure you can figure it out!”
She probably meant to sound encouraging, but it came off a little patronizing.

"Do subway trains usually have puzzles? I can't be 100% certain, but something tells me this isn't usual." Yesod put the papers back on the desk in a neat orderly pile. "Still, this is a fun experience, isn't it?"

With that, she stepped away from the group. "If you're so smart, why don't you figure it out. Fucking prick."

Sato replied, scratching at his chin as he eyed the keypad puzzle. "Sounds like something out of a video game." "Never heard of an Everett Cain either. Although if this is his amusement park, it's possible he might be connected to our situation somehow."

She then turned her attention to the recently-kicked keypad. "I'll try this..."

After Argus inserts the fuse box solution, something behind him shatters... When he turns around, he finds several large pieces of glass on the floor. (Glass Puzzle: i.imgur.com/i7XwwCl.png ) And where that strange piece of glass was, there seems to be another puzzle, though something seems to be missing... "Ah, well there we go then!" Argus said, wiping the grimy mirror piece he'd found in the trash on his trousers before inserting it into the puzzle.

Hakim whistled at the scene, "This looks more like my element," he commented to himself, resolving to checking out the underside of the desk. "And this Mr. Cain these papers talk about... I wish I could say the name rings a bell, but I'm just curious now. Do any of you know him? He seems like a remarkable man, but the implication he owns this place is..." During his search, he responded to the masked man, "Sort of. He's a young man in London, apparently now he's an inventor. Have you ever heard of those pretentious slogans saying that 'science advances mankind to a better future, one step at a time'? It's that kind of deal. Popular, too. I'd say I'm surprised some of you don't know him."

"Solved the glass puzzle." Ari muttered, showing her solution to the group. (Admittedly, the puzzle didn't look like it fit the box, but that was probably because Ari didn't take the lines surrounding the glass into account while putting it together. The pieces still fit though)

After both of the solutions are inserted, the large monitor activates, displaying an image of a full battery.
The keypad next to it starts blinking on and off...
Searching under the desk, Hakim finds the number 1 printed in yellow, and the number 5 printed in pale blue, both on the underside of the desk.

"Well, pretentious or not, I think it's a good message! I do hope he's not our kidnapper, even if all they've made us do so far is ride a ferris wheel and solve some puzzles."

Wolfram hung back as everybody started examining the train. He would have stepped in to look for himself, but it seemed that everybody else was doing their investigations well enough so he unfortunately got lost in his thoughts. He snapped out of it hearing Cain's name being mentioned. "Indeed, his name is quite well known here around the streets of London. Not as perfect as he builds himself up to be though", he remarked. As usual, he fell silent afterwards instead of elaborating. What a cryptic individual.

With that, she stepped away from the group. "If you're so smart, why don't you figure it out. Fucking prick." “Affirmative,” V said blandly with a curt nod. She stepped over to the keypad and typed in 4313587.

"I've figured out the solution! Let me jump into my explanation as I punch in the numbers," Elisha beams, apparently excited as she approaches the keypad. "I didn't realize how fun these puzzles could be!"
"The riddle refers to a rainbow. After a rain, gold, and so on. Our clue to putting the numbers in is the colors though. Each of the numbers we've found have been all sorts of different colors, and now we just have to punch them in in color order, probably red to violet."
"So, the red four from the wire puzzle, the orange three from the keypad, the yellow one from under the desk, the green three from the computer, the pale blue five from the desk, the indigo eight from behind the glass puzzle, and last but not least..." Elisha points to the floor around the others, "We're standing on a big-ass purple seven!"
Elisha inputs 4313587 and you KNOW she's got the right idea even if it's wrong.
She's cut off by V though, "Oh of course Sweetie, go ahead."

“Ding!”
The monitor shuts off once again.
You found it!

A few moments later, the monitor flicks back on. With it, a strange, happy jingle begins to play."Gooooood morning boys and girls! Spectacular performance out there, I really truly am impressed." The voice from the speakers is eerily cheery. The monitor shifts its display to a map of the train carriage all the players are currently in. "Gold star for all of you. Well done!" "What the fuck...?" Ari, and some of the others, seem dumbfounded. "Please, hold your applesauce. I'm your host tonight! It'd be rude to interrupt the show, no?" ... "Oh, alright, I'll get to everything. I'm sure some of you are just dying to know!" "Welcome to the Sacrifice Game! I'm your host, the one and only, titular, handsome, charismatic Keter!" (It's not explicit in the post but this is the mandatory Q&A phase of the game. This will last as long as people still feel like they have good questions to ask. The game will likely further advance tomorrow, depending on how many questions are asked and how available I end up being. Thank you for bearing with me so far, but things should start ramping up soon.)

Yesod looked like he was DYING to talk more about Everett (not that anyone could notice, thanks to the mask), but understandably got sidetracked. "... This feels like it would be too easy, but if you're answering questions, would you happen to know who I am, Mr. Keter? Er, Ms. Keter? Just Keter?"

Wolfram's expression hardened on hearing the voice, but he spoke calmly, albeit with a hint of strength. "You are our captor, I presume? What are your demands? Why bring us here like this? Are you planning to show yourself?"

[This is what Elisha was saying right after the puzzle.]
"So this man's got his own theme park?" Elisha asks, referring to Everett Cain, "Sounds like the type of clown to trap us all here, don't you think? Ha!" She laughs at the bitterness of her statement.
"Miss Charlotte, you were saying Mr. Cain was[\i] remarkable as in was-not-is[\i] as in no-longer[\i]? Did I get that detail right? What happened to the man if you don't mind my asking?"
Her questions are cut off by the monitor lighting up and the voice, which makes Elisha lose her train of thought for a moment as a look of disgust flits across her face.
"I've got many questions Mr. Keter, or perhaps Mme. Keter, but first I'd like to know why we've been drafted to play in any game. It seems presumptuous of you to bring us here," she says through a grimace.

"So you're the one, huh?" Argus also addressed the monitor, his usual pleasantry gone. "Are you the thug with the glowing v headpiece? I'm not afraid of you!" He wanted to say more, but the others had covered most of the immediate bases.

The display on the monitor shifts from the previous image to a simple little emoticon. :) Yesod looked like he was DYING to talk more about Everett (not that anyone could notice, thanks to the mask), but understandably got sidetracked. "... This feels like it would be too easy, but if you're answering questions, would you happen to know who I am, Mr. Keter? Er, Ms. Keter? Just Keter?" "Perhaps! Perhaps not. Keter is fine, though! I wouldn't worry your face off about it. Live in the moment, will ya? People crave that kind of stuff." "I've got many questions Mr. Keter, or perhaps Mme. Keter, but first I'd like to know why we've been drafted to play in any game. It seems presumptuous of you to bring us here," she says through a grimace. "Why? Well, why not?" ... "I suppose that's not an acceptable answer for you. Well, the truth of the matter is, I didn't take you here. It was one of you. I'm sure they'd be happy to answer those questions. Or not! Haha." "You're the one that captured us, right?" He asks Keter. "Are you the Phantom?" "Don't be absurd. Do I look like that to you? I'm here, right in front of you! Does any of this seem familiar, my good Sefirot?" "So you're the one, huh?" Argus also addressed the monitor, his usual pleasantry gone. "Are you the thug with the glowing v headpiece? I'm not afraid of you!" He wanted to say more, but the others had covered most of the immediate bases. "Ah, negative my good Chokmah! Though, it's very brave of you to face your fears. I, for one, am very proud of you."

"You're not wrong there, this situation is exactly what I most feared..." Argus muttered, before changing the topic. "From the way you spoke just now, are you some kind of AI? Or at least, is that the story you'll be running with? I'm willing to accept that whoever kidnapped us didn't want to sit and watch us all day, so they used an AI to stand in from them. I'm less willing to accept that they're one of us, though. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. It'd be an easy way to get us to turn on each other. More than we already are, at least."

"Well, even if the kidnapper is in our midst, that's no reason to turn on each other, surely?" Yesod suggested. "We would still be more or less in the same situation. Or maybe the kidnapper is me! Since I don't have any memories, I could be the kidnapper and still no different from any captive!"
"... You don't sound very sure of that. Keter, what would you say you are if not an AI?" Yesod asked.

Hakim clenched his fist at the words 'Sacrifice Game', but otherwise tried his best to remain collected. Everyone else had raised the most relevant questions up, but there were still two in his mind. He wiped some sweat from his brow and asked, "These bracelets, what are they for? What do these Sefirots have to do with us?"
|

Post by Kachu on Dec 24, 2021 0:54:35 GMT
Keter seemingly ignores Yesod for no particular reason.
"Why, very well."
"This is the Sacrifice Game. Your survival, and furthermore your escape from here, all depends on the sacrifices each of you make. Oh, what fun!"
"Across this lovely place you will find several little gates. You'll know them when you see them, I promise. Each of these will correspond to one of the Sefirot, that is, each of you! What joy. Furthermore, little Tiphereth, each gate will only activate for their own matching Sefirot. In other words..."
>Each player must enter the room that matches their Sefirot, when found. >Up to three additional players may join the other Sefirot, barring some specific, special circumstances. >Failure to meet these requirements will result in your quick and very painful death! Boo! Hopefully you'll get better luck on your second attempt.
>If you haven't noticed yet, each of you have been assigned one of the various Sefirot. >Don't think too deeply on why you got the one you did, or your head might explode! >But that wouldn't be so bad, would it? Feel free to think long and hard. >These bracelets are used to monitor and control your actions during the Sacrifice Game. We can't have you feeling like you can do whatever you want. >Of course, any attempt to forcefully remove your bracelets will also result in your demise! Don't get too antsy now, hmm?
"Of course, as much as I'm sure you all adore puzzles, there are more things to be found! Another device... We will call them, erm, receivers. Yes. Brilliant."
"These receivers also react and activate under specific circumstances. Each one will lead to an additional trial for you all to overcome. Make your choices carefully, though! Who knows what can happen, hmm?"
"It is my hope that each and every one of you suffer during your stay here."

Charlotte meant to answer Elisha's question, but her attention was snatched away by the whole, you know, Sacrifice Game thing. Maybe some other time, Elisha. She scratched at her bandages in a not-so-delicate manner, then smacked one of her hands against her forehead a few times and screamed. "No... NO! This is a dream -- a BAD dream, and I want to wake up. Wake me up!"
Blood trickled down her arms as she further irritated the wounds.
"Oh, God... Oh, GOD!" she cried out and began looking around. "Who did this? Who brought us here?! Which one of you was it? I'm--I'll..."
She sank to the floor, out of breath.
"I'll just sit here... fine."
