Welcome to Danganronpa F9: Re: Current Sin!
As I'm sure you all know, this is a roleplaying game based on Danganronpa. However you don't need to know anything about that series to understand and enjoy this game, nor will this game spoil Danganronpa for you. For anyone unaware, in summary, each chapter of this game will consist of freeform RPing with other characters until one of them kills another, at which point a trial will be held to uncover the truth!
[#spoiler=Premise]
The game initially takes place at a brand new school for Ultimates: students with extraordinary skills that set them far apart from others of their age in a certain field. Hoping to nurture these special talents, a school devoted exclusively to them has been created, and this will be its first class. You will play as a new student to this school, a member of staff, or any other character who might fit the scenario as the students attend their first day. People can come from all around the world due to how unique and special this school is. So far so good.
However! Shortly after the game begins, demons appear and drag the school your characters are attending down to the demon realm, where you will be forced to kill each other to survive. You will gain access to magic spells, including the ability to summon a personal familiar, and these spells will play a significant role in the mysteries. (Care has been taken to keep the magic component of the game orderly, so as to not make solving the murders a nightmare.)
Feel free to ask if there are any other setting details you want to know in advance. I can respond in private if it's spoilery.

[#spoiler=Game Format]
The game consists of 4 chapters in total. Each chapter is split between Daily Life and Deadly Life segments.
During Daily Life, your characters will freely interact with each other in the current setting. You will have access to Free Time Events as well: private one-on-one conversations with other players. There's no particular limitations on what you do in this phase, within reason.
After a few days, a murder will occur, starting the Deadly Life phase. The murder mysteries for this game have already been planned out in advance, so you don't need to do anything special regarding this. A series of GM posts will describe the events during the murder as well as the following investigation. You will then begin a trial to uncover the truth of what occurred, at the end of which you must all vote on who you think the killer is. If you succeed, the killer is punished, but if you fail, someone else at random is punished in their stead and the killer escapes from the demon realm.
Mysteries will work a little differently compared to previous DRF games. Most, if not all, of the information will be presented in the thread. There might be 'alibis' that are sent to each player, but they will be extremely minimal and will often just confirm to the player what they were doing during the events in the main GM post(s). The investigation will also be entirely public. This is primarily to ease my workload, but should also serve to make the mysteries easier to follow and will do away with the common issue of important information being lost in a single player's alibi.
Victims and killers will generally be planned out by me in advance. (Changing circumstances as the game progresses might change up the victim/killer choices.) The survey you'll fill out as part of this application lets you discuss your preferences with regards to this. Just be aware that everyone is a potential target to be killed! There is a decent chance your character won't make it to the end of the game.

If this sounds like fun to you, fill out this survey to join the game! forms.gle/xiFJBa3Cmw8JQmWZA. Please also post in this thread to confirm your application. Signups will be open for a week, so take as much time as you need to complete the survey. It's quite long, as you will be writing up all of your character details there. Unless something crazy happens, there's no limit on the number of players who can join this game, so there's no need to get in quickly. The signup period might be extended if some people need additional time. Feel free to message me if you want to discuss character ideas before filling out the survey.
[#spoiler=Q&A]
Q: When do signups end?
A: One week from today (so on Monday 6th March).
Q: When does the game start?
A: Soon after the signup period is over.
Q: How long will the game last?
A: I'm aiming for around 40 days.
Q: When/where is this game set?
A: The setting is contemporary in a non-specific country, until the demons show up.
Q: LGBT+?
A: Yes please!
Q: Can my character bring stuff?
A: You will be provided dorm rooms and can bring whatever you want (within reason) to them. Anything that breaks a mystery might be retconned though.
Q: Can my character know other character(s) beforehand?
A: Yes, absolutely. Discuss it with them beforehand. Every student is new to the school, but they could have attended the same school before.
Q: Can my character be (x)?
A: Probably. I'll try to be accommodating. Just don't be a single joke of a character, try not to be a headache in a murder mystery, and I'd prefer it if you steered clear of sci-fi elements. (All of these are flexible.)
Q: How exactly does magic work?
A: In simple terms, you can cast two small spells per day. Given enough time (on the scale of months/years) your character would get stronger as a spellcaster, but during the game you will be quite limited.

[#spoiler=RPing Etiquette]
Be active. Try to post at least once a day, and make meaningful contributions. Don't be a dick.
Remain mostly Safe For Work. This isn't super strict, just don't make anyone uncomfortable and don't be a dick.
No godmodding. In other words, don't dictate other characters' actions. (This is a fairly common mistake new players make.) There are exceptions to this rule if it makes a scene flow better, but you have to be very careful with this and it's usually best to discuss it with the affected player beforehand. Often it's best to play it safe and not do it. Don't be a dick.
Think about the game as a whole. Be flexible, and don’t expect everything to go exactly as you envision it. Aim to do things that are better for the game rather than what’s better for your character. This goes for character interactions too: you won't always get your way, and the best moments tend come from propping up another character rather than trying to take the spotlight. In other words, don't be a dick.
