Raph laughed a bit, “Right, you do seem like the type. Well collect away.”
She gestured with her hand,” And I can see how you turned out so…. resourceful and sharp-minded. I can imagine you’re a top grade secretary, degree or not.”

"I'm working my way up to the top," Rebecca replied with a nod. "Though after this competition, I won't need to bother anymore. I must admit, that will be a great relief. It's pretty stressful, powering through a career like I do... but hopefully, well worth it in the end."
She was silent for a few movements, comfortable not saying anything, but then leaned forward as an idea popped into her head. "Well, enough about our jobs. You must have a life outside of being a PI, right? I've already gathered you're not one to hang out with friends on the weekends - admittedly, neither am I - so how do you like to spent your time? Listening to sad rock or something?"

Raphael lifted an eyebrow, “Well, I do read….a lot. I read every day all through out high school and still do so during my time off. Fiction and non-fiction, and I’ll read many books over the same subject. Though I have read everything in our small public library so I have to get some through online orders. Other than that I suppose….hiking while listening to sad rock…” She muttered that last part. “I used to play the drums before my injuries too.”
She slumped over and sat on the ground, not bothering to look for a seat for herself, “What about you? I’m sure there’s much more exciting things to do in the city.”

"I'm sure there are, but I prefer staying indoors. I read a lot too, but your tastes are probably more... high-brow than mine," Rebecca replied, quite amused by the accuracy of her 'sad rock' comment. "Trashy romance, fantasy, the occasional sci-fi... The world outside is fairly depressing, so I suppose I like to lose myself in a different world with a happy ending.
"I'm also rather good at online poker, if I do say so myself. It's not a reliable way to make money, of course, but I try to break even. I like to keep my skills sharp."

Raphael seemed taken aback by her equal interest in reading, “Is that so? Well, I read everything, so I won’t act like my tastes are so much high and mightier. I do have a preference for non-fiction since I find new information interesting but I also enjoy the world building and escapism in all kinds of fiction novels too…” She laughed a bit, “Hey now that’s something we can agree on, the world’s a bitch.” She said in a particularly cynical voice.
“And poker as a hobby…? Can’t say I’ve heard of that, I’ve never touched a poker game myself. If you don’t play it for money though, you just play for fun…?”

"I'd drink to that! Assuming they have any alcohol here..." Rebecca responded to the worldview comment.
"Anyway, like I said, it's to keep my skills sharp. Not just poker skills, though. Reading people, bluffing... It's a game where you have to defend yourself from people trying to take your money, all the while you're doing the same as them. The same skills it takes to succeed in the real world. Otherwise you'll just blindly trust everyone you see." She shot a peculiar look at Raphael, before continuing, "On top of that, it's a great memory exercise, once you get into card counting. Another useful skill."

“Doubtful with how young they are skewing here, down to 18. If only though.” She shrugged.
“You know, those are some important skills. Hey, maybe I’ll have to try my hand at that, at some point,” She laughed, “Card counting huh? Isn’t that usually frowned upon? You really are crafty…..”
(Thinking since the chapter might be ending soon we will want to find a good point to wrap up so it doesn’t end in an awkward place, as much of a BANGER as this fte is-)

"In blackjack, maybe. Poker, though? It's a perfectly legitimate strategy there," Rebecca replied smugly. "I should get a game going some time, the game room's perfect for it and there's plenty of suckers on this show. Should be good viewing for the guys back home, too, especially if we find some way to spice it up. Maybe include penalties for the losers..." She trailed off as she considered the idea, the corners of her lips twitching as she imagined it playing out.
Snapping back to the present, she stretched out her arms, a little stiff from the inactivity. "I like this idea a lot. I should check out the game room, see what they've provided us. I'll hold you to this: I'll be counting on you to help drum up interest in the game. I can teach anyone who's interested the rules, and some tricks and strategies besides."

Raphael gave an interested look while she was drumming up her idea for the game, “That is ….actually a really good idea. I think we should find more things to do together as a group, and I do agree the audience may end up enjoying that. Especially if there are penalties.”
She then nodded, “I could definitely talk to some people, I feel like I’ve been getting along well enough to convince some. I expect you to also teach me though, admittedly, I have zero experience with the game so….”

"Of course. I'd suggest coming up with secret strategies together so we can scam the others, but somehow I don't take you for the type," Rebecca said, smirking. "I'll teach you, and anyone else who wants it, as honestly as I can. Poker's more interesting when the players are comfortable with how to play. And that's something that goes beyond simply knowing the rules."
She got to her feet, stretching some more. "Well then, this turned out to be a very fruitful discussion! I learned a lot of interesting things about you, and this poker idea will be particularly fun. You won't regret telling me about your personal quest either, I think, though that won't play out for a while. So, unless you have anything more for me, I'm going to head to the game room. We'll need decks, chips, a good table, and I'll have a look for any interesting accessories we can use to spruce things up..." It was rare to see Rebecca proactively doing any work, especially physical. The idea must have really enticed her.

“Oh you’d want to work with me…? I’m flattered, but you’re right, I’d rather play a clean game. I’ll keep that in mind if I ever go against you though,” she said the last part in a teasing tone.
Raphael got up herself and got a cigarette out as it seemed Rebecca was about to leave, probably planning to hang out a bit more in the area to smoke once she left. “It really was, dare I say, I particularly enjoyed our chat…” She gave an wave as she pulled her lighter out, “I see you’re particularly motivated, well there’s nothing more from me, though, once you get things going, I’ll be sure to play a round or two with you on the game. I can pick up new things fairly easily.”

"I look forward to it. Until then, I'll leave you in peace with your cancer sticks. Farewell!" With that one last jab, Rebecca sauntered off.
