"I think using the spell on Su-Ah is a good idea! I support it!" Yugi says with authority. "She's so smart and will definitely get us the information we need!" "Huh- why, yes I'm really smart and can totally do it! But since Faye already offered..." (i am free all day tomorrow i can do it for realz, but u guys decide)

"...Gah, I give up!!" Ige cried out, his eyes twisting together in a frustrated knot. "Forget it, I'm done with it. I'm okay with Faye participating as well, since we have to move things along."

“Random thought! Wonderland works to grow something ten times its size. Would a tiny statue that could fit through the gap in the floorboards get big enough? Maybe it could but I’m a little suspicious since Su-Ah supposedly made a centerpiece that way earlier and I didn’t think that was crushing size!” “Again, just theorizing!” Recalling both the scene and the temple, the sizes appear to match up, just about. "To truly get Mr. Itsunoi to be exactly where he was when the statue fell onto him..." Calvin mused for a bit. "Speaking of which, was Mr. Itsunoi standing or was he laying down on the floor? I think the position of the dead meat could tell us whenever Mr. Itsunoi was standing or laying down on the floor." "Between 'standing' or 'lying down', I'd say mister Itsunoi was... A paste." Faye elucidated. "He was completely crushed. His body barely looks like a person anymore." The others who'd seen Neuron's remains agreed with Faye. It was impossible to tell if Neuron had been standing or lying on the ground when he was crushed. The most they can determine is that he would have to have been curled up if he was on the ground, in order to fully fit underneath the giant statue.

"Mr. Itsunoi would have to be curled up to fit completely underneath the statue." Calvin mused as he cross his arms. "It's strange, isn't it? Why would he curls up underneath the statue?"
"I don't know what Mr. Itsunoi's habits was like, so I can't really say much about him. So, any idea why he would be curled up underneath the statue? Did his killer force him to? Or did he just randomly curl up on the floor, right underneath the statue?"

Enough of the players were in favour of Faye performing the ritual. The others agreed to go along with it as well. They read the instructions for the Demonic Oracle and then began jointly casting the spell. [Demonic Oracle theme: www.youtube.com/watch?v=arlbmxxUFk4]Glowing blue bonds joined the hands of the players to their neighbours. Faye, the vessel, closed her eyes as the magic gently lifted her off the ground. An eye symbol appeared on her forehead, and she felt herself connect to the sea of all knowledge. It would have been overwhelming, were she not grounded by her allies. Plucked from this sea, Faye felt a question arise. The other players, sharing some of the sensation, could also see it, but could not influence the situation further. This was Faye's responsibility. It seems the Demonic Oracle was to focus on the topic of the telescope. There would be 5 questions in total, but the spell would end prematurely if Faye got two of them wrong. Q1: Why was the telescope removed from its stand? a) To use it to view something from a distance b) To hit something with it c) To remove it from the crime scene

"Well, the telescope was damaged, so... I'm thinking it was used to break the window like I said earlier," Felix said.

"It was discarded in planet Sissus though, it would end up battered no matter what you used it for." Faye ambivalently floated around. "I don't think it was used to see from a distance, though, and I can't think of a reason why it'd need to be removed from the scene, so..."
"Let's go with B."

The glowing magic shone brighter for a moment. It seems Faye was correct! A thought surfaced unbidden in her mind: "Maybe it was already damaged before it was dropped on Planet Sissus?"
The next question appeared immediately after.
Q2: What was the telescope used to hit?
a) The victim b) The window c) The rafter

“Mikoto’s having a stroke.”

"It can't be the rafter as we know it was damaged by the statue... So, it's either the victim or the window... What do y'all reckon?" Calvin asked the others.

“Mikoto’s having a stroke.” "Hrmm? There's nothing to stroke, friend." Mikoto sighs. "The window is the simplest choice. Considering the phrasing of this question, it seems like 'more than one' is not an option. Which means if it was used on the victim, it was likely not used on the window. And it does not seem to appear that any of us are bandaged? Breaking the window with our bear hands would cause injuries we'd notice." "So some tool was used. And I see no signs of any other tool."

"Window is the reasonable choice. There's no way it was the rafter, and the victim... Well, maybe, but we'll think of that if the window is wrong. Let's go with B."

A pulse of red emanated from Faye and ran along the chain of players. It appears that was wrong! Another thought appeared in her head: "Whoever broke the window could have just bashed it with their elbow or similar."
Q3: Why was the telescope taken to Planet Sissus?
a) To hide it faraway b) To clean it in the water c) To use it at a distance

"Oh yeah. Right. We actually have no explanation for those little shards I thought came from the telescope since the lenses are still whole which we all saw andhsgsgvrbrjrtrerk"
Faye appeared to have been briefly overwhelmed by the sea of knowledge, in a few seconds she would be fine.

"Well. I see."
"Perhaps then, it was used to... Well.."

"... Wait, if the telescope was used on the victim... Of course, that's why Mr. Itsunoi was crushed, it's becase we'd notice the head wound..." Calvin muses. "And if that's the case, then the telescope might got some of Mr. Itsunoi's blood on it. So, I'm thinking it was tossed in there to wash off the blood. We don't know why it was hidden there, and it obviously couldn't be used as it was damaged."
"What do y'all think about the logic?" Calvin asks the others.

"Actually, I should amend what I said about the telescope." Calvin corrects himself. "Since the telescope's lenses were cracked doesn't mean it can't be used."
"It's either to wash the blood off or use it at a distance from far away."

"My head..." Faye grunted, floating upside down now. "... I guess most places with running water would have been occupied? But they left it in the planet too, so wouldn't the answer be both washing and hiding it? Or..."
She felt another wave from the sea of knowledge coming up and decided to cut this line of thought here. "B. B again. Why not."

Another wave of positive reinforcement. Correct! "Planet Sissus is the only one with an abundance of water on it. Just dropping it into the waves would be enough: they wouldn’t even need to do it themselves. It could have been hidden anywhere (such as the asteroid belt) but Sissus was the only planet that served this dual-purpose."
Q4: Who carried the telescope to Planet Sissus?
a) The killer b) An accomplice c) An unrelated third party
|
|
|
Post by Kachu on Mar 31, 2023 15:28:07 GMT
"It would have to be the killer, no?" Mikoto asks nobody in particular. "If the telescope remained on the scene as a weapon, then there is no tools to cast a spell from afar. And if there is no tools to cast a spell from afar, then the one who remains with the cloak is the killer, I think?"

"I'm... I'm going to guess accomplice." Faye said. She then explained somehow in character that they were currently stuck on an accomplice theory due to the note, and that she felt this question could be the work of some kind of greater panda-like demon from the chaos realm to guide them along those lines. Also if it's not accomplice then we know it's killer so even if I get this wrong I did me best man i did me best we still got some info
"I'll guess B. Again. I keep guessing B. I don't like this. Why did you let me do this?"

There was a pause.
Then another positive ripple went out. Success! "I’m sure the killer used the telescope, but the oracle tells me they didn’t take it to Sissus. What does this mean?"
Q5: How did the telescope-carrier know about the weakpoint in the bubble?
a) They were on Ingrass when the note was found b) Someone who was on Ingrass told them about it c) They discovered the weakpoint independently
